Winnipeg Jets Forward Cole Perfetti Makes History With Clutch Game 7 Goal

In Game 7, the Winnipeg Jets were without Mark Scheifele and had their backs up against the wall.

After a terrible Game 6 performance by the Jets, they needed a huge bounce-back game to be able to move on to the second round and keep their Stanley Cup Playoff hopes alive.

With just under a minute to go, the Jets found themselves down by a goal and in desperate need of a hero when Cole Perfetti stepped up with a clutch goal with just seconds remaining.

Perfetti not only secured a guaranteed overtime between the two teams but also made NHL history with this incredible goal.

According to ESPN, Perfetti's goal became the latest game-tying goal in a Game 7 in NHL history.

Of course, the Jets would then score in double overtime and secure the victory, which was only possible thanks to Perfetti's clutch moment almost two full periods earlier.

With the injury to Mark Scheifele, the Jets were going to need someone from their forward group to step up if they were going to clinch a spot in the second round.

Luckily, Perfetti answered that call to step up in a resounding way and dragged his team out from the depths of despair to the exhilaration of victory.

Now the Jets will move on to the second round, where they will face the Dallas Stars, who are coming off a clutch Game 7 win themselves.

Over the next several days, the focus will now turn to the injuries suffered by Mark Scheifele and Josh Morrissey and when they could possibly return.
