The Winnipeg Jets lost Nikolaj Ehlers to free agency in 2025, and now there are fears for the future of Kyle Connor after a report from David Pagnotta.

The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the NHL's best regular season teams in recent seasons, but still, the team lost Nikolaj Ehlers this off-season as he departed the team to sign with the Eastern Conference powerhouse Carolina Hurricanes.
According to reports, those in the know within the Jets organization expected Ehlers to test the market for the past season, but now, David Pagnotta has revealed an update on Kyle Connor, one that's a little more promising.
Pagnotta has now noted that the team don't get the same sense on Connor potentially departing at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, but given that he's eligible for an extension right now, it may not be the best sign that conversations haven't gone very far as of yet.
On his last deal, Connor earned $7.142 million per season, and after putting up 90+ points in two of his past four seasons, it's safe to say that a massive pay rise could be on the way for the 28-year old winger.
In 2024/25, he posted a career high of 97 points with 41 goals on the year, and if that production continues, there may be a team out there that can outbid Winnipeg in a big way for Connor's services.
Ultimately though, things appear to be much more positive on the chances of Connor staying than they did with Nikolaj Ehlers, who departed to the Eastern Conference for several reasons, and while it's too early to know what the future of Kyle Connor holds, as of right now there's cause for slight optimism in Winnipeg.
