Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks have made a big addition to their lineup signing free agent forward David Kampf. The Vancouver Canucks have been struck by terrible injury luck this season losing several key players including Filip Chytil to another concussion.

Loading from Twitter ...

Without Chytil, the Canucks center depth has been severely lacking and GM Patrik Allvin has been looking for various solutions. First, Allvin traded for young forward Lukas Reichel in a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Loading from Twitter ...

To this point, Reichel has failed to fit the role of a second-line center in Vancouver forcing Allvin to pivot once again. This time, Allvin has signed veteran forward David Kampf who recently had his contract terminated by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Vancouver Canucks scoop up David Kampf after contract termination
Earlier this evening, the Canucks announced that they have signed Kampf to a one-year deal worth just over one million dollars.

Loading from Twitter ...

The deal provides the Canucks with much needed depth and very little risk to go along with it. For Kampf, at 30 years old he gets another NHL opportunity after spending the last four seasons with the Maple Leafs before being placed on waivers to begin this season. Overall, Kampf is a depth forward who likely won't end up playing second-line minutes but could at least be a solid third-liner who can move up the lineup in a pinch. With Kampf now on the roster, it will be interesting to see if Patrik Allvin is done addressing the center position or if he will continue to be aggressive adding talent.
