With Brock Boeser's future in Vancouver on the ropes a new source has connected the Canucks to three potential star forwards to replace him. The Vancouver Canucks decided to keep Brock Boeser at the trade deadline despite his expiring contract after this season. The expectation since then has been that the Canucks and Boeser would continue discussing a potential extension to keep him around. However, since the deadline and even extending out to the trade of J.T. Miller the Canucks star winger has struggled mightily to fit in the new core group.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

With Boeser struggling so much this season it seems more likely by the day that his time with the Vancouver Canucks will come to an end after this season and he will begin fresh with a new team next season. As a result of this conclusion, Noah Strang a trusted Canucks reporter has compiled a list of three wingers who could potentially be added to replace Boeser this offseason.
Vancouver Canucks Linked To Three Star Wingers In Free Agency
In preparation for this offseason, Strang decided to put together his list of potential targets to replace Boeser. First up on the list and most notably is Winnipeg Jets star Nikolaj Ehlers who Strang mentions would add much-needed speed to the lineup. Nikolaj Ehlers is 29 years old and has 21 goals and 57 points in 59 games so far this year. He also has eight 20-goal seasons under his belt. The biggest difference between him and Boeser is foot speed. While Boeser is not the fastest player, Ehlers ranks in the 94th percentile for top skating speed among forwards this year and 87th percentile for number of speed bursts over 20 miles per hour. Beyond Ehlers Strang also mentions Anthony Mantha of the Calgary Flames and Taylor Hall of the Carolina Hurricanes as potential options. Mantha, 30, has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons but could add immense size and goal scoring ability as a depth forward for the Canucks he would then open a spot in the top six for up and coming prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki. Finally, Taylor Hall has now become a journeyman at 33 years old playing for 4 teams in the last 5 seasons. Despite bouncing around Hall brings a consistent game built around transition success and is offensive versatility to be a scorer or playmaker but at soon to be 34 years old relying on him for top-six minutes could be a risk. As free agency looms over the next few months it will be fun to follow this situation and see if Boeser ends up leaving the Canucks and if so who Vancouver targets to fill his skates.
