Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks have officially finalized a deal to bring in new head coach Manny Malhotra to lead the next era of Canucks hockey.
The Vancouver Canucks have undergone major changes since the end of the 2025-26 season firing their entire front office staff and head coach.
Since then, the Canucks hired new GM Ryan Johnson and placed Henrik and Daniel Sedin in crucial front office roles beside Johnson.
After hiring that trio, the Canucks then focused on a new head coaching search and throughout the process Manny Malhotra's name kept surfacing.
Now, according to multiple sources, the Vancouver Canucks have hired Malhotra as the team's next head coach.

First announced by insider Frank Seravalli, the Canucks are expected to promote AHL head coach Manny Malhotra behind the NHL bench for the upcoming season.

New GM Ryan Johnson and Manny Malhotra have a close relationship as both worked together with AHL Abbotsford.
This hiring also has major implications for the upcoming 2026 NHL Draft as Manny's son Caleb is a top prospect for the draft and many have already linked him to Vancouver.
Beyond this link, Malhotra has been crucial in the development of several Canucks prospects and could be a perfect leader to help the organization through the expected rebuild.
In the coming days, it will be interesting to hear from Malhotra, Johnson, and the Sedins to understand the full vision behind the hiring of Manny Malhotra.
