In a new interview, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet revealed why he stripped forward Brock Boeser of his assistant captaincy position.

Heading into the trade deadline Canucks forward Canucks forward Brock Boeser was surrounded by trade speculation.
With all of the speculation about Boeser's future controlling the narrative for months his future overall with the Canucks was set in stone for many with a trade being the only outcome.
Instead, the Canucks could not find a trade partner willing to give up their asking price for Boeser and decided to keep him for the rest of this season despite his expiring contract.
In the day following the trade deadline, fans have noticed that Boeser is no longer wearing an 'A' on his jersey as one of the captains which has sparked a ton of discussion and rumors regarding what happened.
Today, head coach Rick Tocchet took the opportunity to address the elephant in the room regarding Boeser's captaincy and what it means for his future in Vancouver.

During a recent interview with the media Vancouver Canucks head coach directly addressed recent speculation regarding Brock Boeser not wearing an 'A' on his sweater.
Just to let you guys know we didn't disrespect Brock because he didn't have an 'A'. We've rotated the 'A's Garland has worn it, Myers has worn it, Boes has worn it a lot, Forbort can wear it. We are not disrespecting an 8 year or 9 year guy here

He then followed that up with a direct response to the media.
You can ask Brock Boeser if he thinks Rick Tocchet disrespects him
Clearly, Tocchet is not happy with the media lately and the constant talk about problems within the locker room between himself and his players.
With the air now cleared on this issue it will be interesting to see if the Canucks can make it through the rest of the season without any more drama.
