After the Vancouver Canucks were officially eliminated from any chance of the postseason, head coach Rick Tocchet talked about what went wrong. It may seem hard to believe, but the Vancouver Canucks will not participate in this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs despite being only a year removed from winning the Pacific Division; this year's division winner is the Vegas Golden Knights. Their year was filled with in-house drama and injuries, both of which played heavy roles in missing out on the postseason.

Loading from Twitter ...

Rick Tocchet Reveals What Went Wrong This Season For The Canucks
Following their 4-1 loss to the Golden Knights in their season finale last night, Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet refused to go into what he referred to as the what-if game and also refused to offer any excuses into their disappointing result. It sucks, right. I don't want to play the what-if game. You've got to reflect on the year, what can you do in different situations. I'm not going to use excuses. I know you guys know what's happened this year, but you've got to deal with that stuff. Could we have dealt with it better? We talked about embracing the hard at the start of the year and maybe we weren't ready for it. Kiefer Sherwood admitted that he and his teammates went through adversity during the year and that he was already looking forward to next year: We dealt with a lot of stuff this year. We learned a lot of lessons. I think our chip on our shoulder for next year grows even bigger. We've got something to prove and something to work for. However, captain Quinn Hughes had a more somber tone in his reflection. It's disappointing for sure. It's been a disappointing year. There's not even anything to look ahead to. The response from both players and coach show the different mindsets that still exist within the organization regarding how successful the team was this year. With Tocchet's contract ending one has to wonder if the organization will continue to follow his vision or find a new voice to lead the team into the future.
