A new statement from Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has sparked optimism for a Stanley Cup Playoff berth despite many significant roster changes.

Heading into the NHL offseason the Vancouver Canucks were expected to be one of the most active teams in adding talent especially up front.
Instead, the Canucks traded away beloved forward Dakota Joshua and replaced him with Vancouver native Evander Kane.
The lack of change and overall improvement has left fans scratching their heads and concerned for the upcoming season.
Tonight, GM Patrik Allvin addressed those concerns from fans and gave reasons why there is room for optimism.

Patrik Allvin Confident The Canucks Will See Major Improvement In 2025-26

During a recent interview, Allvin directly addressed that the Canucks did not play up to expected standards last season.
Allvin placed some of the blame on things out of their control including injuries to key players.
From an outside perspective, obviously a lot of things went wrong. When you talk to the players, for different circumstances and reasons with injuries and all that, they're looking back and there were pockets when we were healthy and we played really good hockey, ended up with 90 points, and they understand this is something we continue to work on.

Allvin then went on to praise new head coach Adam Foote who he believes will be a major catalyst in bringing a winning and successful culture to the Canucks locker room after his success in Abbotsford during the Calder Cup Playoffs.
I do believe they see the process of younger players in Abbotsford, what's coming in the pipeline, and Vancouver is a fantastic market to play in, and Adam (Foote) and the new coaching staff have done a really good job interacting with players here up to this point. So the belief is there.

Of course it is encouraging to hear Patrik Allvin and the staff have so much belief in their group but ultimately it will come down to the players and staff showing up when the puck drops.
