With the Canucks committing to a rebuild the future of star forward Elias Pettersson remains in doubt and tonight a new report shed light on his situation.
The Vancouver Canucks led by Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford recently confirmed the team was committing to a full rebuild to secure the future of the organization.
Shortly after, veteran Kiefer Sherwood was traded away to the San Jose Sharks for future assets.
The trade of Sherwood has now sparked conversation of other veterans that could potentially be on the move this season.
Now, insider Frank Seravalli has suggested that Elias Pettersson could be on the move before the Olympic break.
Canucks exploring Elias Pettersson trade before Olympic break
According to Seravalli there is a strong belief that the Canucks are going to trade Elias Pettersson at some point this season.
Seravalli now believes that a trade could even be in the works to be completed before the upcoming Olympic break.
There's definitely a growing suspicion from teams that [a trade] does happen this year, and there are some thinking maybe even potentially before the Olympics; now, that feels kinda quick
If the Canucks are going to trade Elias Pettersson they would have to get a king's ransom back at this point.
Pettersson is under contract for the foreseeable future and giving up on him too early could prove disastrous even for a rebuilding team like the Canucks.
