NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed that the Canucks are ready to make a trade to help their team, under the condition that it aligns with the team's age scheme.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli has provided some clarity on what may come next for the Vancouver Canucks, noting that management is ready to make a move to improve the team, but under one strict condition.

What the condition of any possible trade must be

Any trade needs to fit the current «age scheme» and long-term structure of the team rather than be a short-term gamble, as GM Patrik Allvin doesn't want to risk the future of the franchise.
Re Canucks: "They will make a move to try and improve this team, but it's not gonna be for someone that doesn't fit the age scheme of this team."

As Seravalli explained, the Canucks are determined not to let any desperation drive their decisions.

Why the Canucks are looking for youth

While there's an awareness that improvements are needed, the organization isn't willing to risk its entire future by targeting older players or contracts that could create salary-cap problems in the years that follow.
The focus is on finding a player who fits into the team's current core based on age and overall potential.
Any addition must be one that helps the team continue to be competitive beyond just this season. Essentially, the Canucks will likely not target any UFAs.
The market has given the Canucks some options, but they have not necessarily found the right fit yet. Allvin doesn't want to make any impulsive moves.
When chances did present themselves, such as Minnesota's Marco Rossi, Vancouver's front office refused to overpay. The Canucks will eventually act, but only when the right deal presents itself; there is absolutely no rush.
As the season unwinds and the trade chatter heats up, supporters should expect to see some movement from the Canucks, but it won't be reckless.
The next deal will be one that offers the franchise a good balance between immediate progress and growth for the years ahead.
