Vancouver Canucks trade rumors hit a wall when Filip Hronek made his stance obvious.

Pro Hockey Rumors relayed the key part Sunday, Hronek's agent Allan Walsh called the chatter «wasted air» and said his client has no interest in going anywhere else.
That matters because Hronek isn't just another name on the blue line right now.
The same report frames him as Vancouver's top rearguard in the wake of the Quinn Hughes trade, meaning his minutes are basically the team's backbone.
The contract is the real force field here.
Hronek is on an eight-year deal at a $7.25 million cap hit, and it includes a full no-move clause that runs through 2027-28.
And on the ice, he's not hiding.
Hronek has 3 goals and 27 points in 48 games, while averaging over 24 minutes a night, and both ESPN and PuckPedia show those same numbers.

Filip Hronek ends Vancouver Canucks trade chatter

As a fan, I respect it, because players rarely say «no» this clearly without leaving wiggle room.
There's also a hockey reason the Canucks would want him staying put.
NHL.com highlighted Hronek's heavier matchups and leadership growth, noting he had 26 points through 43 games and leads Vancouver in assists, plus he's leaned on in every situation.
Hronek is 28, drafted 53rd overall by Detroit in 2016, and he's always been at his best when the workload gets ugly.
That's not flashy, but it's exactly what keeps younger defenders from getting overcooked.
So if you're looking for the takeaway, it's not «Hronek will never be traded,» hockey is too weird for absolutes.
It's that the Canucks can't shop him like a normal asset, and his camp just reminded everyone of that.
If Vancouver is truly resetting parts of the roster, the next milestone is simple.
Build around the guys who actually want to be there, and let Hronek's stability do its quiet work while the rest gets sorted.
