Canucks make multiple roster moves, including emergency goalie recall

Vancouver Canucks' general manager, Patrik Allvin, made roster moves on Sunday morning due to concerns about injuries. Elias Pettersson was assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL to give him some more playing time.

Victor Mancini was recalled from the Abbotsford Canucks to give the Vancouver Canucks' defensive lineup support, but most concerning was when goalie Nikita Tolopilo was recalled under emergency conditions because of the injury to goalie Thatcher Demko in last night's game vs. the Maple Leafs.

Injuries affecting the lineup reflect the rapid changes being made by the group today. Coach Adam Foote has Mancini and Tolopilo to call on in future matches, with Pettersson undergoing development in Abbotsford to hone his skills.

In Saturday night's 5-0 blowout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Demko was taken out of the contest after the second period with what was deemed a lower-body injury.

Foote has confirmed that Demko will be assessed over the coming days. The origin of the injury has not been specified just yet.

As troubling as this trend was, it was especially worrying in light of Demko's recent struggles, where he has given up three or more goals in each of his last six appearances in net.

Kevin Lankinen had to close out Saturday's game, surrendering two goals on 18 shots that he faced. Vancouver couldn't manage to score a goal.

The team will have a chance to rebound when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on Monday at 4:30 PM PT.
