Canucks linked to former first-round pick in a potential Kiefer Sherwood trade
One of the most talked-about players in trade rumours for the Canucks is Kiefer Sherwood, and the Canucks could potentially be offered a former first round pick in return for him per a new report from NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun.
The Vancouver Canucks have already made a major trade this year, sending captain and former Norris Trophy winning defenseman Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild earlier this month.
There are still multiple players on the Canucks roster who are heavily involved in trade rumours, including forwards Kiefer Sherwood and Conor Garland.
If Sherwood were to be moved, NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun has listed the Dallas Stars as a possibility and names former first round pick Mavrik Bourque as a player they could potentially get in return.
Pierre LeBrun: Re Kiefer Sherwood: We know the Stars have already kicked tires; I wonder if the Stars would entice the Canucks with...Mavrik Bourque; I'm not sure if Bourque is the answer, but I do think there's a match here somehow - The Athletic (12/24)
Sherwood is a pending UFA at the end of the season and has 20 points (16G, 4A) so far in 36 games.
Mavrik Bourque Is A Former Stars First Round Draft Pick
The Stars took Bourque with the 30th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft when he was playing for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL.
He would then spend two full years playing with the American Hockey League affiliate Texas Stars before joining the Stars full time in the NHL last season.
In 71 games, he had 25 points (11G, 14A).
So far this year in his second year in the NHL, Bourque has 12 points (5G, 7A). He can become an RFA after this season.
