Today, Canucks head coach Adam Foote spoke to the media and gave an update on Thatcher Demko's health after calling up Jiri Patera. Heading into the 2025-26 season, one of the keys to the Canucks season was going to be <a href='https://www.hockeylatest.com/nhl-team/vancouver-canucks/thatcher-demko-discusses-how-he-prepared-for-a-bounce-back-season-after-injury-struggles-in-2024-25' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>keeping goalie Thatcher Demko healthy</a> and on the ice. To this point in the season, the Canucks have been able to do that but yesterday the Canucks called up Jiri Patera from the AHL under emergency conditions leaving everyone worried about Demko. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/canucks/status/1986862593290764601'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/adamkblat/status/1987209403247042872'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> After making the move, the Canucks had not spoken about what was happening with Demko which led to mass panic amongst fans who were concerned the often injured goalie was dealing with something again. This afternoon, Adam Foote spoke to the media and attempted to put everyone's mind at ease as he gave an update on Demko's condition. <h3>Adam Foote Provides Promising Update on Thatcher Demko's Health</h3> During his most recent press conference, Foote confirmed that the team is being careful with Demko on account of his history. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/batchhockey/status/1986888674718654486'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> With the team being careful to keep Demko fresh he will not dress for tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/batchhockey/status/1987240398176370903'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> The fact that Demko is skating is a great sign that he's still feeling good and could play in the coming days. Demko this season has played 9 games and has a 2.57 goals against average with a 0.912 save percentage both of which are significant improvements over last season. With the Canucks serious lack of depth in net organizationally Demko could be forced back into the lineup sooner rather than later. As more news is provided on Demko's health and impending return to the Vancouver Canucks lineup we will pass those details along to you.
