Eleven straight losses will make anyone bite their tongue, until they stop biting. Adam Foote didn't.
Vancouver just ate an 11th straight defeat, a 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders, and Foote basically said he's done watching the same movie.
His message wasn't about systems or bounces. He went straight at the room, straight at the veterans, and straight at the way the group reacts when the game turns.
Foote brought up the visible stuff, frustration, bad changes, even guys «slamming the gate.» That's the kind of detail you only mention when you want everyone to picture it.
He also said it's been going on for a few years, not a bad week. That's a coach telling you the rot is older than the current losing streak.
Vancouver's season record is sitting at 16-27-5, and the math is brutal when you're trying to climb out of a hole like that.
The part that hit me was the line about «our culture is not going to be that anymore.» That's not a quote you toss out unless you're ready to make it awkward in practice tomorrow.

And yeah, as a fan watching this spiral, it feels like the coach is saying what the rink has been screaming for weeks.
Public callouts are risky, but they can also be a reset button. If the room was tuning out quiet messages, Foote just turned the volume to max.
He framed it like the plan is working, but the emotional response is killing the execution. That's basically a warning that the leash for «learning moments» is gone.
This also shifts pressure onto the core guys, because Foote didn't blame kids or depth. He pointed at leadership habits, and that's a tough mirror to hold up.
If you're a struggling team, the second period is often where the cracks show, and Foote said that's exactly when the veterans look defeated first. That's a dagger, and he meant it.
Now the real question is what comes next. A scratched name that shocks the room, a line blender that breaks comfort, or a trade that admits this season is busted.
Wednesday brings the Washington Capitals, and it's a perfect test. If the body language sags after one bad shift, Foote's words will echo louder than the scoreboard.
Either the Canucks respond like a group that's embarrassed, or they drift like a group that's checked out. Foote has seen enough, now we find out who actually heard him.
