Several insiders on TSN's Overdrive recently discussed the Leafs looking to acquire Sidney Crosby from the Pittsburgh Penguins, and whether it was a real possibility or not.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, as revealed by Brad Treliving, are shopping around for some trades to bolster their D-core and offense.

Names likely to be targeted will include Brock Nelson, Yanni Gourde, and Chris Kreider, but one big bold name has come out: Sidney Crosby.

During one recent episode of TSN's OverDrive, for those who love their hockey breakdowns with a side of humor, host Bryan Hayes posed the question of where Crosby could be moved to.

Bryan Hayes: "Sidney Crosby to whoever. Tell me why this couldn't happen. If Dubas is so afraid to make a trade you need to fire him immediately, you can't have that type of management.

Nobody knows the Leafs better than Kyle Dubas and Wes Clark and face it every game gets uglier in Pitt, he lost 6-1 to the 'hockey club'."

While several options were thrown out, host Hayes and fellow Maple Leafs' alumnus Jeff O'Neill continued to push for a trade to bring Crosby aboard to Toronto.

Jamie McLennan also came up with a ridiculous package for Crosby, a package that many would say would be totally worth it to acquire a player of his stature.

McLennan: "If we're being hypothetical, I'll trade you Sidney Crosby and Tristan Jarry for Joseph Woll, Easton Cowan, a first, and a second first. It's a package that Tree may hang up the phone but Dubas won't be doing anyone any favors."

The Penguins are deep in the middle of a big rebuild, building up the D and their prospects. It's dealing away Crosby that might bring in a player of high caliber in return.

That means the Leafs could possibly be giving up Easton Cowan, one of Toronto's best prospects, Joseph Woll, and more, so that would be a big long-term loss. Giving up all of this would almost be worth it to get Crosby.

He's the most recognizable player in the NHL since Wayne Gretzky, a surefire Hall of Famer, and a national hero in his native Canada. All of his accolades, along with the aura about him, make him worth gold on the ice.

Beyond the greatness he possesses, Crosby brings to Toronto the opportunity to contend for a championship with a participant who means an immense commitment to represent and perform for the country of Canada.

Adding Crosby onto the Maple Leafs means more than wins coming into the team, as it stirs up a lot of national pride and excitement for Canadians.

This wouldn't be your typical trade, and it would shake up the hockey world and the fanbase for quite some time, as the Leafs would be adding arguably one of the most famous hockey players who could flip both the competitive and the cultural scripts for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
