Love is in the air for Maple Leafs Matthew Knies: spotted with new girlfriend

It seems as though Matthew Knies of the Toronto Maple Leafs is going to have a new supporter next year, as he was seen cuddling his new girlfriend in Italy.
The 2023-24 season was a good one for Knies, as he put up 35 points in 80 games with the Maple Leafs. He will look to build on that success, and appears that he will have an extra supporter to help him do so, as he's now in love.
Knies was seen in Rome cuddling up to a woman, who appears to be Ella Huber, a University of Minnesota women's hockey player.
Knies was referred to as a "bestie" by Ella in one of the captions she wrote in a recent photo. Many thought this meant Knies had been friend zoned, however they were then spotted getting really close, with Ella resting her head on Matthew, as he had his arm around her. Fans then saw another post that read: "About time I guess 🫂🤍 Happy one year best friend." It appears that Knies is no longer just a friend, and they seem to be an actual couple now.
Knies is full of potential for the Leafs future, however Huber has done really well herself with her teams. Last season she scored 18 goals and had 42 points in 39 games with the Gophers.
