Alex Steeves signs a surprising contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have just signed forward Alex Steeves to a one-year, two-way contract extension, which has just been revealed by the club.
The Maple Leafs revealed that the deal is just a one-year contract and is carried two-ways, which will see Alex Steeves paid the league minimum 775k at the NHL level.
Alex Steeves first signed with the Leafs in 2021 as he was coming out of the NCAA with the University of Notre Dame. He's been in the Leafs system for the past three years, having played mostly in the AHL.
Alex Steeves is only 24-years-old, and had 27 goals, 30 assists and 57 points in the 65 games he played for the Toronto Marlies last season in the AHL. Steeves has only played one game with the Leafs last season and collected no points. He played seven total NHL games in the league, having gotten just one assist.
