Linus Ullmark Ottawa Senators leave of absence rumors finally get answers

Tuesday, the 32 year old Ottawa Senators goalie finally sat down with TSN's Claire Hanna and talked publicly about his leave for the first time.
It comes after weeks of online noise that never should have existed.
Ottawa announced Ullmark's leave on December 29, 2025, citing personal reasons and offering full organizational support.
His last appearance was December 27 in Toronto, when he was pulled after four goals on 14 shots.
Then the internet did what it does, people filled the silence with garbage.
The Senators later put out a blunt statement calling the stories fabricated and asking for basic privacy and decency.
In the clip, Ullmark doesn't dance around it, he addresses the situation head on and sounds like a guy protecting his family first.
That is the only priority that matters, no matter how badly fans want details.
On the ice, the numbers tell you why Ottawa missed him, even in a down year by his standards.
The initial clip of the sit down is here, and you can hear how tired he sounds of the speculation.
One reaction making the rounds goes right at the rumor merchants, and honestly it matches the mood around this fanbase.

Linus Ullmark ends Ottawa Senators rumor storm

If you're a Sens fan, you probably feel equal parts relieved and furious that it ever got this far.
Ullmark was drafted in 2012, round 6, 163rd overall by the Buffalo Sabres, and he is signed through 2028-29 with an $8.25 million cap hit.
That contract reality means Ottawa needs stability between the pipes.
With Ullmark out, Leevi Merilainen has been forced into a bigger load, and his .874 SV% in 10 appearances shows how thin the margin gets fast.
Ottawa's blue line can survive mistakes, but not a constant leak behind it.
Now the hope is simple, let the guy breathe, then let him play when he's ready.
The next time Ullmark starts, the building is going to sound like people exhaling at once.
