Video shows Panthers lack of desperation on Matthew Tkachuk's heroics

The Stanley Cup Finals in 2024 are well and truly alive after the Edmonton Oilers sealed a dramatic Game 5, sending the series back to Edmonton at 3-2 with all of the momentum behind the Canadian squad. Of all the talking points in Tuesday's game, perhaps the biggest was the last second save of Matthew Tkachuk, who hustled down the ice to keep out a would-be game sealing empty net goal for the Oilers.

His hustle stopped the goal with just inches to spare, keeping the game alive momentarily before the Edmonton Oilers captain would put things away once and for all, sealing the Oilers second straight win and continuing their momentum. It was a finishing touch on a great night from McDavid, but it was the lack of desperation from Panthers veteran Oliver Ekman-Larson that has some in the building worried.

The Panthers have been all effort throughout the playoffs, so the hope is that this was just a momentary lapse of concentration in a huge moment, and even if the Panthers didn't have much time left, you still need to hustle it out. Now, the game shifts back to Edmonton for Game 6, and if the series returns to Florida, it's anyone's series to win.
