Matthew Tkachuk broke some rules and is now in hot water. The new Stanley Cup champion with the Florida Panthers got caught up in the excitement, and a rookie mistake by taking the Cup into the Atlantic Ocean. Well apparently there's a rule against doing that because the cup could sink. Matthew Tkachuk didn't know it was against the rules to take the Stanley Cup into the ocean. It also wasn't his idea, and he's making sure proper credit is given.

Loading from Twitter ...

Tkachuk also clarified that it wasn't his idea to take the Cup for a dip; he blamed his brother, and Ottawa Senators captain Brady, for the act. It was right after we won, and I hadn't slept yet. It was just me and a few teammates. We didn't have anyone around to tell me, 'Matthew, don't be an idiot. Don't do that.' So, I thought it'd be fun. If I'd known it was a rule, I wouldn't have done it. But looking back, I think it's kind of funny. Luckily, Matthew redeemed himself during his day with the Cup in ST Louis.
