The Oilers have been without Leon Draisaitl since March 15th and in that time the Oilers’ power play has been horrible and now an analyst has suggested a plan to fix things.
The Edmonton Oilers continue their fight for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight against the Seattle Kraken.
If the Oilers are going to pull out a win they will likely have to exploit the Kraken’s awful penalty kill ranked 31st in the league.
However, in recent games the Oilers have been just as bad on the power play scoring just one goal in seventeen attempts.
When asked about the problems, Zach Hyman admitted that the team’s effort is there and things are getting better the goals are bound to follow.
With all of the problems the powerplay has experienced, NHL analysts from Oilers Nation have made a suggestion on changes that need to be made.
NHL analyst believes Jack Roslovic is the key to improvement for the Oilers power play
During a new podcast episode the crew at Oilers Nation discussed the Oilers power play and changes that could be made.
The key according to them is finding a bigger role for both Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jack Roslovic who have stepped up most in Draisaitl’s absence.
The only goal is that Nuge goal? That’s comical. They’ve tried Podkolzin down there I don’t think Savoie is the fit but they haven’t Roslovic enough for me. And he’s actually been scoring some goals too. Like I think he should be on there. Or the other idea I would go for. I wonder if they would move Nuge down to where Draisaitl plays.
Clearly something needs to be done by Kris Knoblauch and the Oilers’ staff to get the power play going with or without Draisaitl in the lineup.
If they once again fail to produce tonight against the Seattle Kraken potential even further drastic actions could need to be taken to jumpstart the power play.
