On Friday, both Evander Kane and Adam Henrique missed the Edmonton Oilers practice to get a maintenance day.

As the Oilers prepare for the start of the second round against the Vancouver Canucks, Kane and Henrique, two key forwards for Edmonton, weren't on the ice for practice.

"Knoblauch says Henrique & Kane were both off the ice with «maintenance days.»

Expects both of them to be ready for Game 1 of the next series. #Oilers"

In the playoffs, any extra time to recover from injuries or simply rest is crucial.

"Rest is always a good thing. I think rest is a weapon at this time of year, but that being said we've gotta make sure that we're ready to roll. Practice hard against each other. Make sure we're ready to go."

Both players have been important for the Oilers' success so far, and their absence would truly hurt the team's offensive depth going into round two.

Kane has found his stride after a tough season, where a dealt with a hernia. He scored two goals and one assist against the Los Angeles Kings, but also played a physical game that we hadn't seen from him over the past months.

As for Henrique, no details about his condition have been released by the organization. However, both players are expected to play the first game of the second round.
