The Edmonton Oilers traded Viktor Arvidsson to the Boston Bruins after only a single year with the team, but not before they tried trading two other players first. The tenure of Viktor Arvidsson with the Edmonton Oilers came to an end after just a single year and a trip to the Stanley Cup Final. Arvidsson was traded by the Oilers to the Boston Bruins for a 5th round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.

Loading from Twitter ...

He's not the only Oilers player who was traded in the weeks after their 2nd straight loss to the Florida Panthers in the Cup Final, as they also dealt Evander Kane to the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers, who have also lost Corey Perry in free agency to the divisional foe Los Angeles Kings, apparently tried to trade a pair of separate players before dealing Arvidsson to the Bruins.
Two Key Oilers Blocked Moves Away From Edmonton Per Insider Report
NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman said he believes the Oilers may have looked into trading Darnell Nurse and Adam Henrique before they moved on from Arvidsson. I think basically Edmonton went to a check with all their guys who had no trade clauses, who they would want to move and say, 'Okay, how many of you are willing to go places?' And (Viktor) Arvidsson said he was, so he went. But, you know, Nurse, I don't think he wants to go anywhere. (Adam) Henrique, I'm not convinced he wants to go anywhere. So that's kind of where it ended up. Henrique is under contract for another year in Edmonton with an AAV (average annual value) of $3 million. Meanwhile, Nurse is under contract through 2030 with an AAV of $9.25 million. While neither player has been moved to this point it will be interesting to see if either player is moved before the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
