Connor McDavid opened Edmonton's playoffs with a win, but a watch party fight on April 20 turned the city's buzz into a bad look.

That is the real issue here.
The Oilers beat Anaheim 4-3 in Game 1 on Monday night, with Kasperi Kapanen scoring late and Jason Dickinson adding two goals.
Leon Draisaitl came back and posted two assists.
Connor McDavid got held off the scoresheet, yet Edmonton still found a way, which is the kind of depth playoff teams need.
Then the plaza story hijacked the hockey story.
The clip spread fast because it fit the worst stereotype of a packed playoff crowd.
You can see the exact second the mood stops being loud and starts looking out of control.
"Fight at Edmonton watch party today."

Connor McDavid needs Edmonton focused on hockey

Fans are right to hate this look, because the team gave them a comeback win and the sideshow still stole oxygen.
That is brutal brand damage in the middle of Round 1.
The Oilers are selling these watch parties as family events inside a controlled playoff setting.
So when violence becomes the clip people share, security becomes part of the series conversation.
That hurts the atmosphere around a team chasing a third straight trip to the Stanley Cup Final.
Edmonton did its job on the ice Monday.
Now the city has to clean up the rest before Game 2 turns another win into another embarrassment.
