Edmonton Oilers top coaching candidate reportedly slipping away after latest development

A new report from NHL insider David Pagnotta has indicated that the Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of losing out on their top coaching candidate.
The Edmonton Oilers recently fired head coach Kris Knoblauch after a disappointing first round loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Since then, the Oilers led by GM Stan Bowman have started a league wide search for their next head coach.
One of the top candidates in the eyes of many is former Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy.
However, after the Golden Knights advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals reports have suggested the Oilers are now expected to look elsewhere.

According to a report from NHL insider David Pagnotta, the Oilers are unlikely to be able to interview Cassidy before making their decision on their next head coach.
It's starting to seem less and less likely that Bruce Cassidy will be available to interview.
This comes after the Golden Knights put out a statement confirming they will not let other teams interview Cassidy until their playoff run is over.
Even though Cassidy is no longer employed by the Golden Knights they have control of who he can interview with due to his contract still being enforced and paid for by Vegas.
Now, it will be up to Stan Bowman to determine whether or not waiting for a potential interview with Bruce Cassidy is worth it or not.
