Edmonton Oilers planning trade to revamp blueline before September
The Edmonton Oilers aren't done their Summer spending just yet. According to Frank Seravalli GM Stan Bowman, is on the verge of a massive trade.
With Cody Ceci, Philip Broberg, and Vincent Desharnais gone, the boys are leaking oil on the blueline and it doesn't make things the easier the Oilers are cap-strapped.
While there are some solid depth players available, the team needs a top-four defender to pair with Darnell Nurse, like Rasmus Andersson, Artem Zub, Henri Jokiharju, or Justin Barron.
Servali added the big acquisition to give the defense corps depth is coming sooner than we think.
Edmonton is looking at other moves, including a potential trade that could make a bigger impact than just PTOs. They don't have to wait until training camp.
Oilers fans will be keeping a close eye on any moves that could shake the roster and set the team up for a strong start to the 2024-25 NHL season where they hope to reach the Stanley Cup final again and this time walk away as champions.
Since falling 2-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers, the organization have made significant changes this Summer, bringing in Viktor Arvidsson, Jeff Skinner, Josh Brown, Matthew Savoie, Roby Jarventie, Vasily Podkolzin, and Ty Emberson, while parting ways with Ceci, Broberg, Warren Foegele, Vincent Desharnais, Sam Carrick, Ryan McLeod, Xavier Bourgault, and Dylan Holloway.
