Today, a new report has connected the Edmonton Oilers to KHL star Vitaly Pinchuk as a potential free agent target.

During the 2025 offseason, the Edmonton Oilers were aggressive in scooping up some of the top talents from Europe, the Oilers signed Josh Samanski, Atro Leppanen, and, David Tomasek all from various leagues in Europe after breakout seasons.
Now, a new report has suggested the Oilers should target Europe again this time heading to Eastern Europe and the KHL.

Oilers linked to top-10 talent in the KHL as potential offseason addition

According to a new report from Dave Hall of Oilers Nation, Vitaly Pinchuk could be the perfect addition for the Oilers this summer.
The Edmonton Oilers have already dipped into the European market this season, signing Czech defenceman Tomáš Cibulka. Who’s to say they won’t go back to that well and target a highly skilled centre out of the KHL? With a core offensive unit already in place, the Oilers could offer the perfect insulating environment for a skilled pivot like Vitaly Pinchuk

Pinchuk, 24, was over a point per game in the KHL this season with 66 points in 65 games dominating with his elite size and skill combination even despite a lack of high end skating.
Hall believes that Pinchuk’s size and skill combination could be exactly what the Edmonton Oilers need to go alongside Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl next season.
What immediately stands out is his frame. At 6-foot-3 and over 200 pounds, he has the size NHL teams covet. While he doesn’t consistently play a heavy game, much of his production comes from the interior. He thrives in tight spaces, using quick hands to manipulate defenders and goaltenders, and shows the ability to either finish plays himself or distribute with sharp, one-touch vision.

The Oilers have tried and failed to find complimentary players to go alongside McDavid and Draisaitl but just because they have failed in the past does not mean they should stop trying.
Pinchuk’s size, ability, and, age make him a prime candidate to be successful for the Oilers for many seasons to come.
If Stan Bowman and the Oilers want to take another crack at an unproven overseas talent then Pinchuk needs to be the first player they target.
As more information is provided on the Oilers’ pursuit of Pinchuk and other free agents we will pass along all of the latest news.
