Connor McDavid iced Mark Spector's "why is winning so hard" question, and Edmonton Oilers fans felt the sting and the relief at once.
Jesse Courville-Lynch then put words to it, basically saying fans can spiral online, but reporters are right there in the room.
He's reacting to a moment that went viral fast, because it sounded like a setup, not a search for insight.
Spector asked McDavid if Stanley Cups and Olympic gold were supposed to be this hard to find him.
McDavid's first move was pure dagger.
"That's a nice question, thank you."

Then the pause did the rest.
McDavid did answer, but he never gave the premise an inch.
He called it disappointing, pointed at tiny margins, and ended with the only honest line, what other option do I have.
That's why Courville-Lynch's point lands, motivation is hard to spark when the question is built around failure.
It also hits harder because Edmonton is trying to stop a four-game slide right now.
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers pressure cooker
Oilers fans are exhausted with the gotcha stuff, because the season already supplies enough pain.
If you want the room to open up, ask about solutions, not scars.
McDavid's play is not the issue, he's sitting on 34-64-98, which is video-game production.
The real issue is whether the group can defend a lead and survive shifts where the puck management goes sideways.
Edmonton is 28-23-8 and still has runway, but the air feels thinner every night.
If the media wants a real answer, it has to ask a real hockey question, because McDavid just showed what happens when it doesn't.
