The Oilers are trying their best to navigate all of the team's injuries, and unfortunately, they have had to place forward Kasperi Kapanen on LTIR.

The Edmonton Oilers moved injured winger Kasperi Kapanen to long-term injured reserve shortly after placing forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on injured reserve yesterday.

The issue that Kasperi Kapanen is dealing with

Kapanen, age 29, has missed the past 10 games with an undisclosed injury. He was injured back on October 19 against the Detroit Red Wings, leaving the game after playing just 5:43. He has just two assists in six contests this season.
Turning our attention back to Nugent-Hopkins, he is set to miss at least a week of action with an undisclosed injury. He played 14:50 in Saturday's blowout 9-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche and was a very poor minus-4.

Why Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' absence may hurt the Oilers

The 32-year-old has five goals and a total of 16 points in 16 games this season. The Oilers sure hope he won't be out any longer than that estimated week.
There was some good news, however, as forward Mattias Janmark was activated from IR and made his season debut last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets after sitting out since training camp with an undisclosed injury.
The Oilers did manage to pull a miraculous comeback victory against the Blue Jackets after trailing for almost the entire game.
Coach Kris Knoblauch offered high praise for Connor McDavid's performance in Monday's 5-4 overtime win against Columbus.
"Connor wasn't going to let us lose tonight," Knoblauch told reporters postgame. "He was so focused on getting the job done. I've seen Connor rise to the occasion and play some tremendous games. I'm not going to say this was his best game I've seen him play, but under the circumstances, it's right up there. He was so determined to get the job done."

McDavid is now tied for fourth in league scoring with 24 points in 17 games.
