A new report tonight has confirmed that Detroit Red Wings General Manager Steve Yzerman is on the hot seat after yet another disappointing season.

The Detroit Red Wings entered the 2025-26 season looking to finally break their playoff drought that dates back to the 2015-16 season.
For much of the season, the Red Wings looked to be on pace to finally make the playoffs and get back to the winning ways of their historic franchise.
However, since the Olympic break the Red Wings have been one of the worst teams in the NHL and have fallen out of a playoff spot.
Currently three points out of a playoff spot the Red Wings odds to break their drought become worse by the day.
If the Red Wings once again fail to make the playoffs, reports seem to indicate it will cost GM Steve Yzerman his job.

While the Red Wings could still save their season in the last few games that outcome remains unlikely.
If the Red Wings extend their playoff drought insider Renaud Lavoie believes the failure will cost Yzerman his job.
Steve Yzerman is a name that's been out there for the last few weeks... It's not easy to have depth in the NHL, but it could save your job.
While the Red Wings still have time to save their season, they might be playing for more than just the playoffs they could be playing for the jobs of their front office and coaching staff.
Yzerman was brought in to Detroit to try and replicate the success he had with the Tampa Bay Lightning but through seven seasons with the Red Wings things have not improved.
If he cannot get it done this season it is likely time for a change and a new voice to lead the Red Wings back to the playoffs.
As more information is provided on Yzerman’s future in Detroit and beyond we will pass the latest details along to you.
