Insider shares update on team name for Salt Lake City

The NHL Board of Governors gave the green light for the Arizona Coyotes to move to Utah! But now comes the big question: what will they call themselves?

Instead of rushing into it, they're sticking with just "Utah" for now. Owner Ryan Smith wants to ensure they nail it so they might roll with something simple like "Utah Hockey Club" for the first season.


It reminds me of the Washington Football Team in the NFL. They even surveyed fans for name ideas! So we could be hearing about their official name real soon, maybe even tomorrow. They can't be the Coyotes as those rights are retained by owner Alex Meruelo He said in a statement he intends on bringing them back as an expansion franchise and has retained the branding.




They may also be hitting free agency and trades hard to beef up their roster. Imagine snagging players like Steven Stamkos or Jake Guentzel to lead the charge. Utah's gearing up for an intriguing debut season!
