Seth Jarvis made Team Canada for Milano Cortina 2026, as an injury replacement, and the Hurricanes forward sounded stunned and thrilled.
Jarvis said he found out during a pregame nap when his phone rang twice, and that second ring changed everything.
Team Canada GM Doug Armstrong delivered the news, with Brayden Point forced out of the Olympics because of an undisclosed injury.
Jarvis had been a final cut when Canada named its 25-man roster on Dec. 31, so this is the toughest kind of redemption.
The timing is wild, too, because Jarvis is driving Carolina’s offense again.
TSN captured his nap story here.
On Thursday, he played in Carolina’s 2-0 win over the New York Rangers, then talked about scrambling to pack and rebook travel.
He is sitting at 25-18-43 through 49 games, and those 25 goals lead the Hurricanes right now.
Seth Jarvis gives Team Canada real Hurricanes bite
Canes fans have been riding the emotional roller coaster with him, from the snub to the standby whispers, and now the payoff finally lands.
On the ice, Jarvis fits what Canada lost with Point, a right-shot attacker who can finish, pressure, and still track back hard.
He can slide into a top-six look if needed, but he also screams “nightmare third-line matchup” in a short tournament.
His speed forces broken exits, and his hands turn loose pucks into instant chances off the rush.
Jarvis also knows a chunk of this group already after skating for Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off last year.
Canada keeps the same bench boss in Jon Cooper, so the system learning curve should be short.
Now it’s about grabbing a role fast, because the Olympics do not wait for anyone, even a guy who was literally asleep.
