Josh Morrissey going to the Canada room is the kind of Olympic note that makes your stomach drop fast.
Mark Masters posted it, and the wording matters because “to the room” usually means trainers, not a casual chat.
At this stage of the Milano Cortina tournament, nobody is leaving the ice for fun.
It might be nothing, a skate tweak, a blocked shot bruise, a maintenance reset, but it reads like an evaluation.
And it lands on the one part of Team Canada that cannot afford chaos, the blue line.
Morrissey arrived here playing like a true engine, 6-24-30 in 37 games, and he was eating 24:26 a night for Winnipeg.
If it is a lower-body issue, the worry is the first few strides and quick pivots, because that is where his defending and exits live.
If it is upper-body, the concern shifts to puck-moving and that first pass under pressure.
Either way, Canada’s plan leans on him to keep plays clean before the forwards go to work.
Josh Morrissey puts Team Canada on edge
You can already feel fans bracing for the worst, because we have all seen “day-to-day” turn into “not today” at the worst moment.
Tactically, losing him changes the whole breakout rhythm, especially against teams that stack the neutral zone and force chips.
It also squeezes the man advantage options, because he’s a calm distributor when lanes close.
The early look had him skating alongside Colton Parayko, and that pairing is built for hard minutes.
Now the next step is simple, watch who takes his reps at the next skate, and whether Morrissey is back on time for Canada’s next game.
