Canada remains undefeated in the 2026 Olympics, and forward Connor McDavid has made history as the first player ever in NHL participation with six points in his first two games.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is playing in his very first Olympic Games, as this is the first time since 2014 that NHL players have played in Olympic competition.
So far, he's been nothing short of a dominating force for Canada, and has made history in the process.
Per analyst Chris Johnston, McDavid became the first player in Olympic NHL history to have six points in his first two games played, beating the previous records of Marian Hossa and Teemu Selanne.
Connor McDavid is the first player ever to record six points in two games to open an Olympics with NHL participation. Marian Hossa (Slovakia, 2006) and Teemu Selanne (Finland, 2006) previously had five. - Chris Johnston

Connor McDavid Leads All NHL Players In Points With 96

Canada is fortunate to have three of the four highest scorers in the NHL on their team as they go for their third gold medal in the Olympics.
Canada head coach Jon Cooper talked about McDavid along with Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon and San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini, who are second and fourth overall in NHL scoring.
Here's the thing. They're three phenomenal players, generational these kids, but in saying that you don't know how that chemistry is going to go all the time. Three centers, and now some guys have to take not a step back but play a little bit out of position. And, ultimately, they're three guys that want the puck, need the puck and there is only one puck. So now sacrifices have to be made, but, ultimately, they did it. - Jon Cooper

Canada next plays France tomorrow, and are the heavy favourites.
