Trevor Zegras in Montreal? A journalist gives details of a possible transaction between the Canadiens and the Ducks

The Habs have a nice bank of prospects, but they still lack a bit of punch up front. The team isn't expected to make the playoffs again this year, but it's one or two players away from becoming truly competitive.

As the team continues to draft defensemen and goaltenders, a talented forward could be acquired through the free-agent or trade market.

On this subject, journalist Rob Couch of The Hockey News believes that Kent Hughes should look into acquiring Trevor Zegras, who is still without a contract. A bit like Matthew Tkachuk or Pierre-Luc Dubois, he could well choose his new destination.

Of course, it would be expensive for Kent Hughes, who would have to sacrifice a few prospects/quality players, but it's very feasible. We know that Zegras is a good friend of Cole Caufield, and that he gets along very well with Martin St-Louis.


The Ducks' GM doesn't seem to want a long-term deal with his forward, while Kent Hughes could offer him a contract similar to Caufield's.
