Serious development concerning Josh Anderson: Kent Hughes has refused a huge offer for his services according to Pierre LeBrun

For the past few games and due to the numerous injuries on the Habs roster, Josh Anderson is one of the players who has to take on many additional responsibilities to compensate for the absences in the lineup.

Since the loss of Cole Caufield, he has been playing on the first line and he is now playing a lot of minutes on the power play as well. It must be said that number 17's game is really good and he is a great asset to his organization.

However, what has been attracting attention for the past few weeks are the numerous trade rumors that are circulating about him.

The Tricolore's general manager, Kent Hughes, has already stated on several occasions that he would not trade his power forward unless he gets an offer he cannot refuse.

However, we just learned from TSN's Pierre LeBrun that Hughes would have received a trade offer for Anderson. Basically, the Habs would have been offered a first round pick for the 28 year old forward.

That's huge, especially if that pick was from the 2023 draft, which is shaping up to be one of the best in a very long time.

From what we can understand, it is that Hughes would have judged this offer insufficient and that he believes he could possibly get more by the trade deadline.

We can therefore conclude that a single first round pick would not be enough to satisfy the demands of the CH GM. Again, not knowing the year of the pick in question, whether it was 2023 or not, we can understand why Hughes declined the offer.

With only five weeks left before the March 3rd deadline, it is plausible that this team or another could come back with an even better offer.
