Former player throws shade at Bruce Cassidy during their time in Washington

Over the course of eight NHL seasons, Bruce Cassidy coached three different teams. In 7 of his 8 seasons in the league, he led the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals to the playoffs. He finished the 2019–2020 season by winning the Jack Adams with the Boston Bruins.

He hasn't yet won a championship, though, and a former player speculated that there may be more to the matter. When he was a member of the Washington Capitals, Andrei Nikolishin was coached by Cassidy, and he recently sat down with Sports Express to discuss the former coach.

"I crossed paths with him, so I can tell you what kind of person he is. I think he is a rather envious and dishonest coach.

The team is really tired of his approach. He reminds me somewhat of Ron Wilson, who was a classy coach. That's the most tactically savvy coach I've ever seen. But as a human being, he was a weirdo."

Nikolishin describes Bruce Cassidy as being envious, dishonest, and odd although still maintaining a classy approach to it all.

Nikolishin seems to be saying that Cassidy eventually outstayed his welcome in Washington. He lost the respect of the room.

Could Cassidy be the real solution to finally push the Vegas Golden Knights over the hump?

Time will tell
