Carolina Hurricanes Release Halak From Professional Tryout
The Carolina Hurricanes have announced today that they have released goaltender Jaroslav Halak from his professional tryout with the team. Halak, signed on the PTO earlier this month, was a free agent this offseason. He played 25 games with the New York Rangers last season, however, it now appears his career in the NHL could be coming to a close.

Halak has played in over 500 games in his NHL career. His release from the Hurricanes strongly indicates that his NHL career is coming to an end, as the 33-year-old will have to re-evaluate if he is able to make an NHL roster next season or hope another team becomes desperate for a goaltender.
