Alex Ovechkin Gives His Stance on Pride Nights

The Polemic Surrounding Pride Nights in the NHL
Many recognize Alex Ovechkin as one of the best player in hockey history. With his immense talent and fame comes intense scrutiny on his actions and opinions.
Last season, the Washington Capitals organized a pride night. Instead of wearing pride jerseys, the team used pride tape. It was noted that Ovechkin didn't participate in this event. However, this news didn't garner as much attention as when Ivan Provorov decided not to don a pride jersey on the same night.
Following these events and the subsequent reactions, the NHL decided to stop specialty jersey nights. This means there won't be any more nights dedicated to pride jerseys, breast cancer awareness jerseys, military appreciation jerseys, or other thematic warmup jerseys.
Ovechkin Reveals What he Thinks of Pride Nights in the NHL
Recently, Ovechkin shared his perspective on the NHL's approach to this issue.
The Washington captain was also praising NHL leadership for not imposing any sanctions on players like Ivan Provorov of the Philadelphia Flyers and current Red Wings goalie James Reimer over their refusal to participate in NHL-sanctioned Pride Night events in support of the LGBTQ community.

This topic remains sensitive and has created divisions within the hockey community. Ovi's stance might not be appreciated by all, but he's allowed to speak his mind, like everyone else.
