Alex Ovechkin Answers to Dominik Hasek's Critics Towards Him

Tensions Between Hasek and Ovechkin
The tension began with Hasek calling out Ovechkin for his endorsement of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The renowned goaltender certainly didn't mince his words.
What!? Not only an alibist, a chicken sh*t, but also a liar! Every adult in Europe knows well, that Putin is a mad killer and that Russia is waging an offensive war against the free country and its people. The NHL must immediately suspend contracts for all Russian players! Every athlete represents not only himself and his club, but also his country and its values and actions. That is a fact. If the NHL does not do so, it has indirect co-responsibility for the dead in Ukraine.
I also want to write, that I am very sorry for those Russian athletes, who condemn V. Putin and his Russian aggression in Ukraine. However, at the moment I also consider their exclusion a necessity.

Hasek's views mirror what many have expressed in the recent past. Now, he has Ovechkin's attention.
Ovechkin Speaks Out After Hasek's Comments on Russia
True to his nature and based on Ovechkin's history, he seemed unperturbed by these remarks:
I'm not very interested in his statements, he told Russian news site Izvestia of Hasek's harsh assessment. Of course, I know him as a good goalkeeper in my time.
Predictably, Ovechkin stands by the NHL's choice to not exclude Russian players. Given the strong feelings on both fronts, this narrative is likely far from over.
